This place has become a favorite of ours — we’ve stopped in a few times over the years, and it never disappoints. If we’re anywhere nearby, it’s pretty much a guaranteed visit. The sparkling wines here are fantastic, and the view from their patio overlooking the lake is one of the best you’ll find in the region.
On our latest visit, we lucked out and got a tour of the tunnels beneath the winery. These tunnels were carved right into the rock and are used to store wines after production and before labeling. The bottle stacks down there were beautifully organized — enough to satisfy anyone with a bit of OCD! But the real highlight was seeing the riddling machine in action — slowly turning the bottles to help collect the sediment in traditional sparkling wine production. Very cool behind-the-scenes experience.
They’ve also got a restaurant onsite now — Bistro 19 — and the food was excellent. Just a heads-up: definitely make a reservation if you want to eat there, as it fills up fast.
Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area. We will be — every single time.
